Here is the single from MJ’s upcoming This Is It concert film which is set to hit theaters on October 28th! I don’t think this is exactly CDQ but it’s good enough
Michael Jackson-This is it (click to download)
Later this month, Sony Music Entertainment’s Columbia/Epic Label Group will release the two-disc album Michael Jackson’s This Is It internationally on October 26th and North America on October 27th to coincide with the worldwide release of the motion picture, which arrives in theaters on October 28th and runs for a limited two-week engagement.
Disc one features the original album masters of some of Michael’s biggest hits such as “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Human Nature,” and “Thriller” arranged in the same sequence as they appear in the film. The disc ends with two versions of “This Is It,” the original and an orchestral version. “This Is It” is featured in the film’s closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, the Jacksons.
Disc two offers fans a rare listen to the early demo versions of classics “She’s Out Of My Life,” “Wanna Be Startin’,” “Somethin’,” and “Beat It.” This disc also features a recently discovered spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled “Planet Earth.”
Michael Jackson’s This Is It also includes a 36-page, commemorative booklet featuring exclusive photos of Michael from his last rehearsal.
Rest In Peace MJ!

I haven’t really been listening much to the eels. Although I’ve known them for some time now, I’m only familiar with a couple of songs. But after listening to this, I’m seriously considering listening to all of their older albums.
Eels, which mostly consist of Mark Oliver Everett, or E., released his seventh album Hombre Lobo in June.
P.S. that’s Padma from topchef in the video :)

The Shuffle: Some Somber Sounds

The xx is one of those bands that has an ugly band name. By this, I mean it has a band name that does not roll off your tongue smoothly. It is always awkward to say their band name. But if you can truly appreciate music, you know you have to look past that.
Their sound can only be described as somber. It has a very dark and ambient quality to it. It is the type of music to listen to on an overcast day with a bowl of warm cream of mushroom or hot coco. It is music to listen to with you as your only company. If you like lazy voices, lazy songs and somber topics, The xx is right for you.

Hello there listeners. THEINFINITEPLAYLIST IS BACK!
I’ve been spending a lot of time listening to 40-year old songs lately, specially since the recent “Beatlemania” surge because of the new rockband game, but that doesn’t mean I’m not paying attention to new stuff. Here’s a new batch of damn good songs! enjoy!
Bombay Bicycle Club-Always Like This
Noah and the Whale- 5 Years Time (must dl. feel good song)
Who knew that there was a “indie” hour on Channel V? Got a couple of great tracks from there too..
The Airborne Toxic Event- Wishing Well
Princeton-The Waves (video link)

Mistress Shake loves Gorgeous Male Vocals
This isn’t a new-band-discovery post. I’m just going through a phase. An Orlando Weeks Phase.
Orlando Weeks is the man behind the gorgeous vocals of UK sensation The Maccabees, whom for the past few days I have been listening to virtually non stop. Seriously, his voice makes my knees weak.
Here he is featured on the Filthy Dukes track, “Nonsense in the Dark.” While not exactly in the same spirit as The Maccabees, you’ll still fall in love oh so very easily. Just how he pronounces dark makes me feel all aflutter.
Filthy Dukes - “Nonsense in the Dark”
P.S. To the other writers on the infinite playlist, hope you guys had a blast at your gig!
‘Til my next phase!

Radio Ladio….

The long wait is over!! Kings of Convenience, the Norway folk-pop duo, is set to realse their 3rd album named Declaration of Independence after 5 years. Their first single Mrs.Cold is already out and is already one of the best tracks I’ve heard this year. The sweetly addictive track is one of the band’s most accessible and instantly gratifying compositions to date.

Monday Announcement: Sunday FAIL
I hope this would be my last FAIL post. I just reread my Writers of the Infinite Playlist entry and realized that I forgot to put in Mistress Shake’s “real” name. It’s Clar.
The Shuffle: Some Homework Music
If you are a softy like me who easily cries because of the silliest things, then you will enjoy Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson’s side project. Riceboy Sleeps is a visual art-ambient music collab with Jónsi’s partner Alex Somers. I guess like all side projects Jonsi had more freedom and was more experimental with Riceboy Sleeps. One thing to watch out for is the absence of his signature falsetto vocals in Sigur Rós songs. For me, It is music that can only be described as something that would be played as a score to a sequence with ducklings learning to wade in water for the first time or turtles racing towards the sea after they’ve hatched. It’s music you can fall asleep to, wake up to and spend the rest of the day with.
The Shuffle: That Garage Sound
San Diego Garage band, Crocodiles have that raw garage sound that I often try to find. The music is something you’d expect Hedi Slimane to listen to as it is pretty much a real rock band. I guess what strikes me most about it is that it’s a sharp contrast to the electro sound we are so used to these days. It also doesn’t hurt that the lyrics are quite catchy.

Sunday Announcement: The Writers of The Infinite Playlist
I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately as to how many people are writing for this blog (not really, I’m lying). But to those of you who really are wondering but are too afraid to ask, there are currently four of us. I, Jules, am in charge of writing the Weeklists/Weeknouncements. I haven’t written as many entries as the other guys since I’ve been playing Civilization II nonstop, but once I get bored with the game, expect to hear a lot of retropop from me.
The person in charge of the Radio Ladio posts would be Sandoy. He’s the one on HypeMachine, LastFM and other such music aggregators frequently, so expect to hear a lot of new stuff from him. If you liked the Julian Casblancas/Dangermouse/Sparklehorse collab, then personally email him at theinfiniteplaylist1@gmail.com. You can actually email all of us using that address. But please, praises only.
If you’re a fan of The Shuffle, then credit goes to Paolo, whose succint and flowing writing makes reading The Infinite Playlst both an entertaining and informative experience. Again, you can email him at theinfiniteplaylist1@gmail.com
Our last writer is a woman. She’s in charge of the Mistress Shake brand of playlists and her first post, Mistress Shake with Swedish Pop sure serves up an addicting pop dose. Sweet Sweet Concorde becomes even sweeter.
So there you go. There are actually more writers, but since they haven’t posted any entries yet, they’re still not part of The Infinite Playlist. I will update when this has changed.
Dutifully yours,
Jules

Mistress Shake with Swedish Pop
Ah, my virgin music blog entry.
Where to start? Maybe it’s just my girly side getting to me—which doesn’t happen very often—but I’ve been playing Sweet Sweet Concorde virtually non-stop. The lyrics are unbearably cute. SSC is another one of those Swedish pop gems, with feel-good cutesy music that you’ll find yourself playing on repeat, especially girls. I’m not very good with describing music, unlike the more esteemed music writers on The Infinite Playlist, but suffice it to say that if you’re looking for dreamy pop with catchy tunes and, again, unbearably cute lyrics, then check these guys out.
My super favorite track of theirs, Superman Song, is only available on their MySpace as of now. It’s a very highly recommended stream, and I’m still trying to figure out how to get the mp3 version. For the meantime, here’s Carrot Cake, a perfect example of their feel-good-cutesy lyrics.

‘Til next time!

Radio Ladio…
Hello there true believers, here’s a new batch of songs for you..
Neon Indian

“An elusive new project from composer Alan Palomo from Vega. Forged after a hazy winter gathering in Texas, this initial batch of tracks were the result of field recordings, record samples, a collection of bizarre synth sounds. Soliciting the visual acrobatics of video artist Alicia Scardetta, this project is setting out to be a multimedia maelstrom.
Psychic Chasms is set to be released on October 13th, 2009 on Lefse Records “
Wavves

distorted as fuck!! but it WORKS! must listen*
“Nathan Williams, under the name Wavves, is a noise pop musician based in San Diego, California. Performing live, he is assisted by Ryan Ulsh. He released his self-titled debut LP in 2008 and since has gained notable media attention from the internet, and other areas including Pitchfork Media and ABC News. He has also allowed some of his tracks to be released for free on RCRD LBL. He is currently signed to Fat Possum Records and has released his second full-length album, Wavvves.”
The Horrors

they have this really joydivision feel…also another must listen!*
“The Horrors are an alternative/garage rock band which formed in 2006 in Southend-on-sea, United Kingdom. The band consists of Faris Badwan (vocals), Joshua Third (guitar), Tomethy Furse (bass), Rhys “Spider” Webb (keyboards) and Coffin Joe Spurgeon (drums).”
